Osmotherley Phoenix

Mass Start 09.00

(Please ensure you also read the rules page for kit requirements)

Dear entrant,

Thank you for entering the Osmotherley Phoenix. Hopefully the day will be enjoyable for both entrants and helpers alike. Below are few points which should help the day run smoothly.

Car Parking : Please park in what was the woodyard, located at the West Side of the village on the road from Osmotherley to the A19 (GR448971) and the field opposite as directed by marshals. Please do not park in the village, ESPECIALLY OUTSIDE THE HALL as the summer games commence at 13.00 and cars parked here will cause an obstruction. This year, there will be NO BUS so please arrive early for the 10 minute walk to the Hall. Late arrivals may be required to use an overflow car park as directed by marshals.

Registration : Registration is in the Osmotherley Village Hall. Registration is between 07.00 and 08.45 and it would be of considerable assistance if you were familiar with your event number. Please also indicate to officials whether you wish to change route – this decision can be changed at Carlton Bank if needed – but please let Checkpoint Staff know!

Route : Please take particular care when crossing roads and obey the Country Code at all times. Again this year, in order to be fair to all and make the finish more reliable, it will be compulsory to turn Left down Back lane, Osmotherley then turn Right up the hill to the finish. It is also likely that there will be at least one additional mystery checkpoint to discourage short cutters.

Safety Equipment for Event : Please note the items of kit as stated on your entry form, which are required in the event, rules – this kit is considered a bare minimum and is for the safety of all competitors and makes it equal for all. To level the playing field, those discovered not taking requisite kit will be given a time penalty of 30 minutes.

Kit Storage : Please leave any kit on the stage. It will be stored here during the event for your collection afterwards. Whilst every effort will be made to ensure its safety during the event, the organisers cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage.

Refreshments : Liquid refreshments will be available at all manned checkpoints on the route. Rather than provide a meal at the end of the event, all competitors are to receive a free event badge and certificate. There is plenty of food of various types available at the Summer Games ( Bar Meals, Fish & Chips, stalls ).

The finish : Since the Osmotherley Summer Games will require the Osmotherley Village Hall in the afternoon, the finish of the Phoenix will be directly outside the Village Hall. Please present your tally to finish marshals. Your certificate and badge should be ready for collection within 30 minutes of finishing.

Presentation : 33,& 26 mile route at 15.00, outside Queen Catherine, 17 Mile at Finish as appropriate.
